Delicate 2" earrings, 22 Karat gold over brass on vermeil ear wires. Coral was once believed to be a flower, but in fact is the transformed skeleton of sea animals . Many cultures throughout history believed that coral had healing properties and this belief is now confirmed by science - ashes from burned coral heal wounds and ulcers, and coral powder dissolved in water is an effective pain-killer. Coral is believed to prevent ill fortune and to bring about success.
Designer Doni was inspired by the fact that coral appears delicate, but is in fact hard and strong. It appears to be a plant, but is in fact an animal. She hopes this design will remind the wearer that things are not always as they first appear, and rushing to judgement is rarely a good idea.
